Delta Airlines is set to implement nationwide adjustments to its Skymiles program overhaul in response to the widespread outcry and frustration expressed by its loyal frequent fliers regarding substantial changes to the loyalty programs and Sky Club access.

CEO Ed Bastian addressed the issue on September 27th, acknowledging the discontent among their customer base and pledging to rectify the situation. Many of the benefits that Delta’s loyal customers had come to rely on and cherish appeared to have disappeared suddenly.

Last week, the airline had unveiled significant modifications to the Skymiles loyalty program, most notably restricting lounge access to the most frequent fliers and basing status solely on spending, a decision that did not sit well with those who had worked diligently to earn these privileges.

On September 28th, travelers at DTW told Local 4 that while the move was not entirely surprising, it was nevertheless disappointing.

In response to the widespread dissatisfaction, Delta has received feedback from numerous frustrated travelers, prompting Bastian to commit to addressing the situation promptly.

Bastian admitted, “There is no question that we may have gone too far, and the changes were overly drastic. We acted hastily, but we are now reassessing the situation. In the coming weeks, there will be adjustments. We have heeded the feedback and are committed to setting things right.”
