Metro Detroit eateries are rolling out enticing deals in honor of National Taco Day, which falls on Wednesday, October 4th. While “Taco Tuesday” is already well-known, this special day is dedicated to celebrating the beloved taco, a dish that sees Americans devouring over 4.5 billion of them each year.

Tacos themselves are relatively simple, consisting of either corn or flour tortillas. However, it’s the fillings and toppings that truly set them apart. Tacos come in a variety of flavors, featuring ingredients like chicken, meat, seafood, and garnishes ranging from cilantro and onions to sliced radishes and guacamole.

For those in the Metro Detroit area craving some delicious tacos and other Mexican-inspired fare, there are plenty of options to choose from, including restaurants, taquerias, and taco trucks in the vibrant Mexicantown of southwest Detroit.

Condado Tacos, for instance, is not only celebrating National Taco Day but also extending the festivities throughout October. App members can enjoy a complimentary taco of their choice all month long. And for those who download the app this month, free tacos await. Condado Tacos is famous for its diverse selection of customizable tacos, nachos, salsas, and margaritas, all set against a backdrop of colorful wall murals. Their fall limited-time menu features tantalizing offerings like orange-glazed chicken tacos with ancho-orange chicken and a spicy maple orange glaze, priced at $4 (or $3 during happy hour). You can also sip on their Harvest Pear Margarita for $12 (or $7 during happy hour), crafted with fresh pear puree and a cinnamon sugar rim. Condado Tacos boasts seven locations across Michigan.

Del Taco, a nationwide chain, is hosting “Tacoberfest” with a series of weekly offers until October 28th. These include buy-one-get-one (BOGO) deals, free fries, complimentary tacos with a purchase, and the option to add guacamole. On Wednesdays, you can grab five snack tacos for just $3. And if you visit during breakfast hours through October 7th, they’re offering BOGO tacos. Additionally, they have free tacos available throughout the day with any purchase.

On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, which has three locations in metro Detroit (Allen Park, Livonia, and Westland), is selling tacos for only $2 on Wednesday. You can choose from seasoned ground beef, chicken tinga, or veggie tacos, or opt for $4 southwest chicken or brisket tacos.

Qdoba is not offering free tacos, but on National Taco Day, Qdoba rewards members will earn double the points on entrée purchases.

Lastly, Taco Bell, a nationwide chain, has reintroduced its Taco Lover’s Pass. On Wednesday, you can snag the Taco Lover’s Pass for $10 via their app. Once you’ve loaded the app, you can redeem one free taco per day for 30 days. The pass allows you to choose from seven taco options, including a soft taco supreme and a spicy potato taco.
